Clean & Jerk Workshop at Dave’s Gym

Third workshop in the series of four is now completed. We have a nice group of 4 motivated and keen people wanting to improve their technique and get a better understanding of how this complex lift is put together. We started off with some mobility and olympic bar warm up as always as it is important to be nice and warm before starting any form of weight traning.

 

We then started by breaking down the lift from top to bottom; the split jerk first, then the shrug and 2nd pull, the transition phase and then the 1st pull from the floor. The groups progressed nicely as we went along, but as expected the transition between the 1st and 2nd pull was the most challenging part.

 

Now it is just a case of going away and practising the lift and start using the hang clean or the full lift as part of your training program.
